FSO - Flight Safety Officer

Safety is the number one priority in the aviation industry. For this reason, an effective SMS (Safety Management System) is paramount in any Organization. Recognizing that the final structure of the safety element will reflect the culture of the Organization, a FSO (Flight Safety Officer) is needed to report directly to the Wing Commander (military organizations) or Accountable Manager (civilian organizations) and be empowered to positively effect safety integration throughout the Organization. In particular, the FSO is the individual responsible for the oversight of the Organization’s flight safety performance. This role demands a meticulous approach and the ability to cope with rapidly changing circumstances in varying situations entirely without supervision. The objectives of the FSO course are to being able to implement and administer an effective SMS within an organization, by providing the essential knowledge required to understand the basics and tools of the Safety Management System. A final exam grade of 80% is required for the completion of the course.
