SMS - Safety Management System

European legislation requires operators to adopt a Management System that integrates a Safety Management System. Knowledge of the elements of the SMS is therefore the starting point for ensuring its integration into airport processes and procedures. Safety Policy, objectives, safety performance indicators, hazard identification and risk assessments are all elements that must be structured and harmonized to ensure their effectiveness as well as regulatory compliance. Drawing on international experience including in SMS review, the course focuses attention on the key points of SMS operation and the critical issues that are routinely encountered. The 2-day course presents all the key elements of SMS from a practical and implementation-oriented perspective, referring to international best practices. Case studies, exercises and examples are an integral part of the course to stimulate participants to a constructive discussion on the challenge of implementing an effective SMS integrated into the Management System.
